Saint Peter Claver

Saint Peter ClaverHe was a slave of the slaves. It seemed strange to many, but St. Peter Claver left his quiet, comfortable life in Spain to serve slaves in Colombia. They say he baptized over 300,000. He devoted his whole life to the defense of oppressed and enslaved people. If he came back to earth, he would still have much to do.

Prayer

Generous God, I give you thanks for the gift of freedom that you have given me. Sometimes I make bad decisions or I make myself slave to things like money or popularity. Help me to use my freedom well and, like Saint Peter Claver, to help those who are in need. I ask this through Jesus Christ who freed us from sin through love. Amen. Saint Peter Claver, Pray for us.
