Saint Rose of Lima

She was born in Peru in 1526. When she was 20 years old, she joined the Dominican Order and from then on lived in austerity, sacrifice, and surrender to God’s will. Used to great suffering, she deepened into the mysteries of the Passion and death of Jesus. She was known for her great love for those most oppressed in her society, the indigenous people and African slaves. She was 31 years old when she died.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, not always can I achieve my goals. Sometimes obstacles are too high. Sometimes I feel that my family does not understand me and would not understand my desire to follow you fully. But I know that, just as you did with Rose of Lima, you open doors where others close them, and that, with you at my side, I can go wherever you lead me. Amen.
