Advent Meditation

DAY 1: December 3rd -- First Sunday of Advent

Thank you for taking time to pray our St. Jude Daily Advent Meditations. We look forward to praying with and for you during these holy days.

The Advent wreath is lit, marking the coming of the birth of our Savior. Prepare the way of the Lord by committing to a quiet time of reflection throughout Advent.

Therefore, stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.

DAY 2: Monday, December 4th

The Blessed Mother gave herself over freely to God’s will. May you discern God’s presence in your life so you can continue to say “yes” like Mary did.

But a shoot shall sprout from the stump of Jesse, and from his roots a bud shall blossom.

DAY 3: Tuesday, December 5th

Advent is a time for giving. How can you give of yourself this week? Offer a brief prayer to those who are in need.

Behold our God, to whom we looked to save us! Let us rejoice and be glad!

DAY 4: Wednesday, December 6th

St. Jude, help us grow in virtue this Advent. We pray for a new year full of faith, hope, and love.

The way of the just is smooth; the path of the just you make level.

DAY 5: Thursday, December 7th

As we begin the last month of the year, consider the gift of time. Ask God for the grace and insight to use your time on earth wisely.

Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy that will be for all the people.

DAY 6: Friday, December 8th

We devote ourselves to St. Jude, keeping him close to us in prayer. St. Jude, we offer you all of our petitions with gratitude.

The lowly will ever find joy in the Lord, and the poor rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

DAY 7: Saturday, December 9th

Forgiveness is an essential fruit of the spirit. Dear God, give us the strength to forgive and the courage to ask forgiveness.

Here is your God; He comes with vindication; with divine recompense He comes to save you.

DAY 8: Sunday, December 10th

Today we light the second candle of the Advent wreath. With this candle we pray that the light of Christ will shine through us to everyone we meet.

Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.

DAY 9: Monday, December 11th

Advent is a time for reflection. Give some thought to which aspects of your spiritual life you hope will benefit from these days of meditation.

For over all, His glory will be shelter and protection: shade from the parching heat of day, refuge and cover from storm and rain.

DAY 10: Tuesday, December 12th

St. Jude offers us hope so we might share it with kindness and generosity. Be open to the difference this simple guideline can make in your perspective, too!

With God nothing will be impossible.

DAY 11: Wednesday, December 13th

Jesus lived His mission to show through His actions that everyone is a beloved child of God. Pray that God will bless the Claretians as they follow in Christ's ministry of service.

My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.

DAY 12: Thursday, December 14th

Prayer is the foundation of our faith. Turn to God, who knows our needs before we even bring them to Him, and trust that our prayers never go unheard.

I, the Lord, your God, teach you what is for your good, and lead you on the way you should go.

DAY 13: Friday, December 15th

Is there an area of your life that is in need of healing? Let St. Jude know your need for guidance, insight, and hope.

The desert and the parched land will exult; the steppe will rejoice and bloom.

DAY 14: Saturday, December 16th

Throughout the world there is much turmoil. God, bless the work of the Claretians so that they can share the hope of St. Jude with those who most need it.

DAY 15: Sunday, December 17th

As we light the third candle of Advent, we take a moment to reflect on the peace and joy of Christmas.

Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he will prepare your way before you.

DAY 16: Monday, December 18th

Our Lady of Guadalupe offered Juan Diego miraculous roses in winter as a sign of her love for all people. May she protect and bless us as we celebrate her feast today.

The virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel, which means 'God is with us.

DAY 17: Tuesday, December 19th

Family is a special part of Christmas. May those who are away from their families feel the presence of God, and may all families experience His healing love.

Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill shall be made low.

DAY 18: Wednesday, December 20th

Let the Lord into your life. Spend some time in a quiet place with God today and you will be surprised at the reward it will bring.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

DAY 19: Thursday, December 21st

Like Mary and Joseph who traveled to Bethlehem, say a prayer for those traveling this Christmas. May God keep them safe during their journeys.

"Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel, which means 'God is with us.'"

DAY 20: Friday, December 22nd

Think of the rejection Mary and Joseph faced when they were not received at the inn. Reflect on those who have rejected you in the past and forgive them now.

"And she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn."

DAY 21: Saturday, December 23rd

Children await Christmas with blessed excitement. May God watch over them, and may they know His love throughout their lives.

The Virgin shall be with child, and bear a son, and shall name him Emmanuel.

DAY 22: Sunday, December 24th

Silent night. Holy night. May we carry the calm and peace of the birth of Christ into the New Year.

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, for He has visited and brought redemption to His people.

DAY 23: Monday, December 25th

Christ the Savior is born! As we celebrate in joyful gratitude with others around the world, we look for His continued presence in ourselves and others.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth.
